The Inauguration Ceremony of the China–Egypt Technological Education Alliance was successfully held on 25 June 2026 at New Cairo Technological University (NCTU), Egypt, marking a significant milestone in China–Egypt cooperation in applied technological and vocational education.
The event brought together senior officials from the education authorities of both countries, leaders of Chinese vocational colleges and Egyptian technological universities, industry partners, and international education experts to witness the official establishment of the Alliance. The ceremony also marked an important step forward in implementing the China–Egypt Friendship Institute initiative and promoting sustainable educational collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Strengthening China–Egypt Educational Cooperation
The ceremony commenced with welcome speeches delivered by distinguished representatives from both China and Egypt, including Prof. Dr. Mohamed Watany, Senior Consultant of the Supreme Council of Technological Education (SCTE), Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt; Prof. Tarek Abdelmalak Mekhail Gadallah, President of New Cairo Technological University; Mr. Yu Changxue, Director General of the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange (CCIPE), Ministry of Education of China; and Ms. Nicy Bai, Chairman of International Cultural Communication Center Malaysia (ICCCM) and Secretary General of the International Transnational Education Association (ITEA).
In their remarks, the speakers highlighted the significance of the Alliance as a new platform to strengthen China–Egypt cooperation in vocational and technological education. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing curriculum collaboration, faculty exchange, industry–education integration, and talent development, while promoting deeper people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Alliance Development Plan Unveiled
The ceremony also featured the release of the China–Egypt Technological Education Alliance Development Plan, together with the Alliance Charter and Organizational Structure, establishing the framework for the Alliance’s long-term development.
The Alliance will focus on building the China–Egypt Friendship Institute, promoting joint curriculum development, faculty collaboration, educational resource sharing, industry partnerships, and international talent cultivation. Twelve Egyptian technological universities were announced as the first governing members, forming a nationwide cooperation network across Egypt.
Institutional Cooperation Expanded
A key highlight of the ceremony was the signing of cooperation agreements between four Chinese vocational colleges and five Egyptian technological universities under the framework of the China–Egypt Technological Education Alliance.
The participating institutions included:
- Hunan Electrical College of Technology with New Cairo Technological University and Delta Technological University;
- Guangzhou Vocational College of Technology and Business with New Cairo Technological University;
- Xianyang Vocational Technical College with Beni Suef Technological University and Borg El Arab Technological University;
- Guangdong Finance & Trade Vocational College with East Port Said University of Technology and Beni Suef Technological University.
The establishment of the China–Egypt Technological Education Alliance marks a new chapter in bilateral vocational education cooperation.
Moving forward, ICCCM, as the Alliance Secretariat, will continue working closely with CCIPE, SCTE, partner institutions, and industry stakeholders to advance the Friendship Institute initiative and promote sustainable cooperation in education, innovation, and talent development between China and Egypt.
