The China Center for International People-to-People Exchange (CCIPE), together with representatives from Chinese higher education institutions and international education partners, officially commenced its Indonesia programme with a strategic visit to Universitas Borobudur in Jakarta.
The visit brought together senior education leaders from China and Indonesia to strengthen academic cooperation, promote vocational education exchange, and advance the implementation of the China–Indonesia Friendship Institute initiative.
The programme followed a structured official agenda beginning with the arrival of guests at Universitas Borobudur’s Auditorium (8th Floor, D Building), followed by a formal group photo session and opening ceremony. The event was jointly moderated in Indonesian and Chinese, reflecting the spirit of bilateral collaboration.
The ceremony commenced with the national anthems of Indonesia and China, followed by a traditional Pasambahan cultural performance, symbolizing mutual respect and cultural exchange. This was followed by the introduction of attending guests and an official group photograph.
The programme featured welcome speeches delivered by distinguished representatives from both countries, including Prof. Ir. H. Bambang Bernanthos, M.Sc., Rector of Universitas Borobudur; Dr. Henri Togar Hasiholan Tambunan, Head of LLDIKTI Region III; Mr. Yu Changxue, Director General of the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange (CCIPE), Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China; and Ms. Nicy Bai, Chairman of Sichuan Laima International Education Consulting Co., Ltd. (ICCCM Director, ITEA Secretary General).
The event also included presentation sessions featuring introduction videos of Universitas Borobudur and CCIPE, as well as a briefing on Universitas Borobudur’s international cooperation programmes by the university leadership.
A key highlight of the visit was the signing of cooperation agreements between Universitas Borobudur and three Chinese vocational institutions, namely Xianyang Vocational Technical College, Guangdong Finance & Trade Vocational College, and Hunan Electrical College of Technology. These agreements are expected to further strengthen collaboration in curriculum development, academic exchange, and skills training.
In addition, the programme witnessed the unveiling of the Smart Water Resources Engineering and Management Friendship Institute, jointly established by Hunan Polytechnic of Water Resources and Electric Power and Universitas Sam Ratulangi. The initiative represents a significant milestone in advancing practical and industry-oriented educational cooperation between China and Indonesia.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion session, exchange of commemorative souvenirs, closing remarks, a campus tour of Universitas Borobudur’s international education project exhibition area, and a networking luncheon.
This visit marks an important step forward in strengthening institutional partnerships under the China–Indonesia Friendship Institute framework and advancing sustainable cooperation in vocational education, talent development, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening educational collaboration and promoting mutually beneficial development in support of regional educational and industrial advancement.
